daredevil | the murdock papers
After narrowly escaping numerous allegations by tabloids that he is Daredevil, Matt Murdock—lawyer by day, vigilante by night—finds himself backed into a corner when Wilson Fisk reveals to the press (by way of Daily Bugle reporter and trusted friend of both Daredevil and Matt Murdock, Ben Urich) that he will release evidence that he has collected over the years—called ‘the Murdock papers’—that will cement Daredevil’s true identity as Matt Murdock in exchange for his freedom. The pressure is on Matt as turning himself in will stop Fisk’s release and put the people he care about in grave danger.
Meanwhile something more is afoot in Hell’s Kitchen. The silence in the absence of the Kingpin reaches boiling point when gang wars erupt all over Hell’s Kitchen on the day Fisk’s announcement is made. All hell breaks loose when Bullseye comes back to town for a final standoff with Daredevil. Despite the combined efforts of both Daredevil and the Black Widow, who resurfaces to aid her former lover, they fail to prevent the death of Karen Page.
Devastated and enraged, Matt decides to take matters into his own hands. He defeats Bullseye, captures the gang leaders and declares Hell’s Kitchen for his own. Fisk reveals that the Murdock papers (and Bullseye) are nothing more than a ruse to manipulate Daredevil… and Matt has played right into his hand.
